Booking Information and FAQS
Access and availabilty at many ecolodges is quite limited because they tend to be in non-touristy areas. We therefore need to set up and coordinate your transfers from the airport as well as to the other destinations on your tour. We also set up the guiding services needed. This normally takes about 24 hours to confirm, sometimes longer as communication can be limited, especially if you are planning a more complex trip. Once we are able to confirm a program, we will send a final price proposal, however in the meantime we can quote on a "subject to availability" basis. We are able to satisfy almost every request, sometimes by substituting accommodations or rearranging the itinerary, but often with no changes. This is the advantage of our system and style of touring.
How soon do we need to book?
It depends on the destination and the season you want to travel. Normally 2 to 3 months is advised as a minimum for most of the year, 8 to 12 months for Christmas and Easter. But, if you are flexible in your choices for accommodations and variations in itinerary, we can generally always find space for you on shorter notice.

How many people are in a group?
Normally, the group is you and your immediate travel companions since we usually sell private tours. On some occasions we will make use of an exisiting tour to join in that one of our partners offers and these can be up to 18 people. On the Galapagos yachts the cabins vary from 6 to over 100. The majority are 8 cabins with 16 people though.

Are there any age restrictions?
On rafting and ziplines and other adventurous activities, usually there is a lower age limit of 10 or 11, but it varies from place to place so we need to check each time. Upper ages have no real limits, just your own fitness levels. If you have any health concerns at all, you should consult a doctor and advise them of the destination. Please let us know and we can advise the doctor of the geographic area.

Is Latin America Safe?
Many people have an out of date concept of Latin America as violent, war torn and unstable. This is not true anymore. Like almost everywhere in the world, there is crime and tourists can be involved. You must exercise good judgement while travelling anywhere and make yourself aware of the potential risks and Latin America is no different. PLEASE take a few minutes to read the travel advisories from your own foreign affairs department. We have provided links above for three common sites.

How do we pay for local purchases?
You should bring some US dollars that you can trade for local currency. You can also generally use your bank card to withdraw money. Many purchases can also be paid using Mastercard and Visa though there are some places where they will add the merchant processing fee on to the bill. While on Galapagos yachts and other sailing trips, you must have cash in USD or local currency as they will not take travellers cheques or credit cards.
