Our Policy on Ecotourism
Our policy is to promote lodges, hotels, guide and transportation companies that conform to the ecotourism guidelines as defined by The International Ecotourism Society. These are the services that find their way into our published programs and are our first choice when presenting clients with a custom tour.

But the reality of tourism is not so cut and dried as to allow us to always have the best or even good choices available. For example, you might be a family of 6, with 4 children of varying ages; or you may be limited with a mobility disability. The choices for your trip take on a different character with these types of requirements for accommodation. Or, even more commonly, the best choice is more than you want to spend. At that point it becomes your choice. Please also read our page on ecolodges.

Where We Draw The Line
We will not engage in sex tourism or human exploitation. We will not sell any services that cause or enable human suffering.

We will not sell services that cause willful ecological damage. We will sell the best available services and present you with the options should our best choices not be available.

Our Internal Practices
We consume as little as possible and recycle almost everything else.

We purchase recycled products as a first choice (recycled printer cartridges for example). Our office paper as well as our  paper brochure are made of 100% recycled paper.

We offset all company air travel with carbon offsets using The Offsetters.ca

We outsource a great deal of services and operate in a virtual office arrangement to reduce commuting. Our physical address is in a building that was built using the best available GHG reducing designs.

We purchase all our electricity for computers using wind generated power.

A Few Testimonials

Hi George,

We had a great time - everyone was so friendly.  Sukau Lodge was a great experience - we wish we had stayed at least one more night.  Met some great people, had good food, and Ramy (sp?) squeezed in an extra wildlife viewing for us, which was really nice.

Thanks for arranging a memorable trip!

"After leaving Manaus we flew into Campo Grande for our tour of west central Brasil. From there we drove to the Bonito area to do some snorkelling which was terrific.  I have never swam with as many large colourful fish in a fresh water setting. The scenery is breath taking. Our stay at an Ecolodge was nice in that it was run by a ranching family and was like a B & B. Saw so many gators and birds. Very hot  and humid on the Pantanal. Caught some more local fish...you know...the ones with the teeth. We are back in Campo Grande today for our afternoon flight to Iguassu Falls, where we stay for 2 nights before flying to Rio. We both have taken a ton of pics, so be wary, if you ask to see them. I cannot believe the wide and varied experiences we are having - it is a blast." L. Case.

"Peru was fantastic and all the services arranged were absolutely flawless." S Aris.

"Our students were very satisfied and many said this was a trip they'll  remember always!  "The trip of a lifetime". They want to go back, they already thinking about next year!  One of my students was so enchanted, that her parents and family are planning a trip to Peru this  Summer.  I really appreciate how easy you made this trip for me and helping me share Peru with my students. We have to do it again! (I'm thinking Paracas, Nazca, Arequipa, canon del Colca, Puno... maybe...). Also, one of the Science teachers is thinking about a longer trip to Posada Amazonas or Tambopata Research Center with her students..." A. Rodriguez, North Carolina, 2002

"Thank you so much for looking after our client. More suppliers should strive to be as thoughtful." B Mason.

George,
Sorry I haven't taken time to write, but here I go.   As always, it was excellent and my group is still talking about the trip and how much they enjoyed it.   Even after a sprained ankle!   Everyone was fantastic and very helpful.   We cannot tell you how much we enjoyed your tour!   Next year, maybe Argentina?
