The Ecolodge at Monteverde Cloud Forest. A very classy little place with what must be the best windows ever made for wildlife watching. The lodge has a wonderful dining room and lounge, beautiful gardens and pathways. Monteverde Reserve is really a great place for families. It is adjacent to the village of Monteverde and has a very fun butterfly farm and a frog museum that has to be seen both day and night. This area is warm, but not as hot as places lower down so for northerner thermostats it fits quite nicely. It can actually get cool in some of the mists that pervade the place. It is not as wild as other areas of Costa Rica, but there is still very good biodiversity. The outstanding feature here are the eagle eyed guides. They guide you in small groups or privately with their binoculars ever handy to locate sleepy sloths or colourful trogons. Once they see them, they'll focus their spotting scope for you to enjoy the view. The drive up into the mountains is rough but the views....Like No Where Else On Earth.
