Sarapiqui Neotropical Ecolodge

This is a great place for families, individuals and groups interested in learning about the natural history of Costa Rica. You can also visit the nearby villages and meet local people. There is a botanical garden featuring the indigenous plants. There are excellent sleeping rooms and a restaurant on site. This area of Costa Rica is dominated by lowland rainforests which butt up against the central mountain ranges making for a lush, warm interior region. Rivers flow through the area offering rafting tours and float trips from the lodge, however there is also a fully protected island reserve accessible by footbridge from the grounds of the ecolodge. There is also a study room and dorm for student groups wanting to learn about tropical biology. During the ecolodge construction a Mayan archeological site was discovered and has been incorporated into the project.

Much of the ecolodge uses solar energy as well as a biological treatment system for waste waters.
