National Park and Marine Reserve
This
area exists to protect the most important breeding areas in Costa Rica
for marine turtles. Of the 8 worldwide species, 4 nest on the beaches
here. You can see leatherback turtles between April and June and green
turtles from July to mid October. Other tropical wildlife is incredibly
abundant as well being a major migratory bird route for North American
birds. Tours using electric boats are carried out to view the wildlife
in the many canals and creeks which form this estuary ecosystem
This
lodge is located on the sandspit side of the estuary and offers
